Andrew Elder, an aspiring chef hailing from Hampton, Virginia, embarked on his culinary odyssey at Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte, delving into the realms of food and beverage management. Graduating with an associate's degree in Culinary Arts, his insatiable curiosity led him to pursue a bachelor's degree in Food & Beverage Management. Elder's journey took a pivotal turn when he helped open Corkbuzz Wine Studio in Charlotte, refining his service and beverage management skills under the tutelage of Master Sommelier Laura Maniec. Venturing overseas to the German Wine and Sommelier School, he explored the vineyards of Europe, earning advanced certifications that shaped his profound appreciation for wine. Ascending through the ranks of the renowned establishment, minibar by José Andrés in Washington, D.C., Elder's passion and expertise culminated in his role as General Manager of the acclaimed Jônt, a two-Michelin-starred gastronomic haven. In 2022, Elder was honored with the prestigious StarChefs D.C. | Chesapeake Region Rising Star Sommelier Award. Today, he spearheads the Front of House operations at both Bresca and Jônt, and also assists in overseeing service expansions within Hive Hospitality - showcasing his unwavering dedication and commitment to excellence in the realm of fine dining.
